Our Classes

  • Techniques include Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Composition, and Improvisation. Students will learn and progress in various dance techniques and study their historical, cultural, and aesthetic values of performance.

    Performances include Winter Dance Concerts, Student Choreography Concert, Spring Dance Concert, PRISM and Magnet Recitals.

    Weekly Schedule

    • Tuesday: Modern Technique

    • Wednesday: Jazz & Conditioning

    • Thursday: Repertory/Choreography

    • Friday: Repertory/Choreography

    All repertory/choreography days include Modern technique warm up. Students may dress out in their repertory/choreography required attire. Friday students must dress out in Modern technique required attire.

  • This course has an emphasis on hip-hop and jazz techniques. Students will develop their skills through rigorous training, focusing on choreography, rhythm, and performance quality.

    Golden Cougar Dance Troupe performs in all home UHS Football games, selected UHS half-time basketball games, UHS pep rallies, selected UHS dance concerts, and additional outside performance opportunities.

  • Level 4 is our University Dance Company and is by invitation from the director only. Techniques include Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Composition, and Improvisation. Students will learn and progress in various dance techniques and study their historical, cultural, and aesthetic values of performance.

    University Dance Company performances include All County Auditions, DPA County (Orange County Dance Performance Assessments), DPA State (Florida State Dance Performance Assessments), Guest Residency Concerts, RISE Symposium Concert, Regional/National High School Dance Festival, and UHS Dance Performances.

Dance Department Fees

  • $150 CLASS FEE

    Level 2 (1st/2nd PD)

    Level 3 (3rd/4th PD)

    Magnet class fees go towards residency fees, event fees, and production costs (lighting, sound, video, costumes, etc.)

    Level 4 Dance Company (6th/7th PD)

    Company magnet class fees go towards choreography, residency fees, event fees, and production costs (lighting, sound, video, costumes, etc.) Company dancers will also receive company leotard for events.

  • $150 CLASS FEE

    Golden Cougar Dance Team (5th PD)

    Golden Cougar class fees go towards uniforms & guest artists. Uniforms include: sideline uniform, poms, jacket, sweatpants, and more.

  • Optional Add On Fees:

    Add on fees are separate from required class fees. When directed to school pay, please add any fees you’d like to include with the class fee and add that total to the cart. FEES DUE 9/04/26

    Warm-Up Set: $100 fee includes the University Dance warm-up jacket with the dancer’s name embroidered and embroidered University Dance warm-up dance pants (the warm-up set is required for company dancers).

    Warm-Up Jacket Only: $60 fee includes the University Dance warm-up jacket with the dancer’s name embroidered

    Warm-Up Pant Only: $40 fee includes the embroidered University Dance warm-up dance pants

    • Any color Leotard, pink OR flesh-colored tights for ballet; black tights for modern.

    Jazz & Conditioning

    • Fitted solid-color leotard, dance top, or athletic top OR UHS Dance essential shirt or tank (students may select from the merchandise store)

    • Black pants, studio pants, leggings, or biker shorts

    Repertory/Choreography

    • UHS Dance essential shirt or tank (students may select from the merchandise store)

    • Black leggings, studio pants OR black biker shorts are allowed

    Male Required Attire:

    Ballet & Modern

    • Any color compression top, black pants, shorts, or tights.

    Jazz & Conditioning

    • Any solid color compression top OR UHS Dance essential shirt or tank (students may select from the merchandise store)

    • Black pants or black shorts.

    Repertory/Choreography

    • UHS Dance essential shirt or tank (students may select from the merchandise store)

    • Black pants OR black shorts.

    Required Shoes:

    • Ballet shoes for ballet technique

    Level 4 Dance Company is required to purchase our warm ups

    Class Required Attire

    • Loose-fitting or athletic t-shirt, dance department t-shirt, or fitted athletic top.

    • Athletic joggers, cargo-style dance pants, sweatpants, or athletic shorts (appropriate length) leggings may be worn if preferred

    Department Apparel Requirement

    • All Dance Magnet students are given UHS Dance themed shirt for the year and a uniform top to serve as their “essential shirt.” They are required to wear either as their “UHS Dance Essential shirt”

    • Optional: You may purchase additional UHS Dance merch from our online spirit store. These options can also serve as the student’s “UHS Dance essential shirt” that must be worn on Repertory/Choreography Days.

    • Fleece items (hoodies, crewnecks) are optional spirit wear and do not fulfill the required apparel for Repertory/Choreography days.

Warm Up Information

Our UHS dance warm ups are optional with the exception of the dancers in University Dance Company. If you’d like to purchase our warm ups please fill out the form below and add on the warm-up fees to your class fee when making payment in school pay. Please upload school pay receipt to the order form. Orders are due by 9/04. Ms. Mele will place the orders for warm ups after 9/04
